Letter to the Editor: Thanks LAPSF For Science Classroom Makeover
Barbara MusgraveDuring the summer of 2014, the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation chose my classroom (E113) at Los Alamos High School as a classroom make-over. And boy did it need it! I had a room full of really old, broken sinks and lab tables with carvings from the Jurassic Period!
I also had an asbestos floor and several species happily breeding in the old lab tables (mice and cockroaches). The workmen told me they found papers from 1968!
I did not have an adequate white board for teaching and none of the tables were movable, so last year when I took video footage to complete Read More

Learn How Hand in Hand Schools Build Community Between Arabs and Jews in Israel in Talks Today and Thursday
Arab and Jewish kids learn together at a Hand in Hand School. Courtesy/Hand in HandIn Israel, most Arabs and Jews lead separate lives. They live in separate neighborhoods and attend separate schools, and of course, they speak different languages.

Scenes From PEEC’s Roadside Geology Tour
Geologist Patrick Rowe led a Roadside Geology Tour last weekend stopping along the Main Hill Road, Valle Caldera and Overlook as one of the Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s Take Wing events. The group learned about nested calderas, the earlier caldera was the Toledo, and the original path of the Rio Grande running under the Townsite. Rowe’s essential point was that the landscape of the Pajarito Plateau was formed in a dynamic but elegant fashion. Photo by Felicia Orth
