Have you heard about geocaching and want to learn more or don’t know what it is, but like hiking and adventure? Coleen Meyer, an experienced and passionate geocacher, will teach the ins-and-outs of geocaching in a free program 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at PEEC.

Los Alamos School Board Appoints NancyAnn Holmes to Fill Vacancy

In a special meeting this evening, the Los Alamos School Board voted to appoint NancyAnn Holmes to fill the remainder of David Foster’s term, which ends in March.
Foster served in Position #3 and resigned in August to move to San Diego, Calif.

The Los Alamos Public Schools Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21 at Fuller Lodge.
This event is open to the public with tickets available from the LAHS Athletic office for $25.

Dynofit CEO Demonstrates Biofeedback Through Video Gaming
Rohan Loveland of Dynofit Inc. shows how the video game he designed can be used as a biofeedback devise to teach muscles to flex or relax. Electrodes are placed on the muscle and the person uses a flex or relax motion to play the game. Ever dreamed about learning how to dance? Never had time? Now it’s your chance!
As a part of fundraising efforts for the Los Alamos High School Dance Program, Ballroom Dance students and their teacher Natasha Barkhudarova will be offering four weekly sessions of Rumba Dance Classes for Beginners, starting Sept. 16.
Classes will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16, 23, 30 and Oct. 7, at Los Alamos High School Topper Theater.
Everybody is welcome to join the class and no partner is required. Cost is $40 for adults; $20 for children,
Entreprenurial Teen Grand Challenge Participants Wow Judges
The Quality Mobile Small Engine Repair Team from Espanola took First Place in the Entreprenurial Teen Grand Challenge and received $400 to build their business. The event was held Monday at UNM-Los Alamos as part of Los Alamos ScienceFest 2014. Judges were impressed by the achievable goals outlined in their proposal. PEEC: Call For Trail Photos For New Nature App

While the walls are going up and the roof is raised, a lot of work is going on behind the scenes to bring together all the elements that will make the much anticipated Los Alamos County Nature Center a great new resource for the local community.
PEEC is working with professionals to design not only the exhibits, but also an exciting new app that will be one of the highlights of the new center. The app will provide trail recommendations, and PEEC is calling on members of the community to submit photographs of local trails to be used for the app.
