Riding the school bus can be cool as school bus riders will find out Wednesday, Oct. 8, which is School Bus Ridership Day.
Every eligible student who rides a school bus on that day is in store for a cool surprise. In partnership with Daniel’s Haagen-Dazs, students riding a school bus that day will receive a coupon for an ice cream cone.

Los Alamos High School NJROTC unit hosted Albuquerque’s La Cueva High School and Farmington’s Piedra Vista High School for the Northern New Mexico Tri-Meet for marksmanship Saturday.
Some 23 cadets competed in the event and participated in an informal orienteering activity.

SANTA FE – The New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) Dance Department announces that it will present the premiere of SHED, a piece choreographed and performed by NMSA dancers, in October, as part of its annual Inside/Out series.

The Los Alamos School Board has scheduled an Executive Session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2 in the School Board Meeting Room to discuss limited personnel matters, specifically the evaluation of the Superintendent.

Hilltalkers Win At Eldorado High School Speech & Debate Tournament In Albuquerque

The Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers had an outstanding beginning to their Speech and Debate year Sept. 26-27 at the Eldorado High School Invitational.
Eighteen New Mexico schools competed and the Hilltalkers earned first place in overall team standings at the competition.
The Los Alamos Middle School Hawktalkers also had a strong showing at the tournament. Both teams had numerous students competing in semi-final and final rounds.

Pinon Students Showcase Projects At School Board Work Session
Girl Scouts from Pinon and Chamisa have founded Link Arms in Los Alamos, an anti-bullying group that encourages students to show support for kids being bullied by linking arms with them, either literally or figuratively. The girls have produced t-shirts, posters and a video. They are planning to expand to other schools. One initiative is to invite boys involved in anti-bullying efforts at the high school and middle school to talk with boys at the elementary schools. The Los Alamos School Board honored the group for its good work and posed with them during Thursday’s School Board Work Session
