SANTA FE — A community meeting for the North Aztec Springs prescribed fire is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at the Office of Emergency Management, Emergency Operations Center, 1600 St. Michael’s Drive in Santa Fe.

Probably well-over 90-percent of the trout caught each year in New Mexico are triploid rainbow trout that began life in one of New Mexico’s fish hatcheries. Each year, the State Game and Fish Department stocks literally tons of these trout every week in New Mexico.

Young Eagles Rally At Los Alamos Airport Saturday Oct. 21

EAA Chapter 691 of the Experimental Aircraft Association is hosting a Young Eagles Rally on Oct. 21, 2023, at the Los Alamos Airport.  

They will be giving free airplane rides to kids 8-17 years old. SANTA FE — Approximately one-half inch of rain fell on the Golondrino prescribed fire Monday, which significantly reduced fire activity within the project area.

The Golondrino prescribed fire is located on the Cuba Ranger District east of the community of Llaves and north of Gallina.

On the Black Feather Fire, the Incident Commander recently flew over the fire area and observed minimal activity. The wildfire is 2,198 acres in size and approximately 9 miles south of Gallina. Park Rangers & Conservation Officers Seek Information In Bull Elk Poaching Incident At Bandelier National Monument

The National Park Service (NPS) has announced that United States park rangers at Bandelier National Monument and conservation officers from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish are seeking the public’s help with identifying those responsible for illegally killing a bull elk within monument boundaries.

The elk was killed between the early hours of Thursday, Sept. 28, and Friday, Sept. 29. The incident occurred on N.M. 4 between mile markers 45 and 44 on the north side of the road, approximately one-half mile east of the Cerro Grande Trailhead within Bandelier National Monument. Read More
