NMPED COVID-19 Update: Confirming 39 New Positive Cases – 30 Staff, 9 Students Across New Mexico’s Public Schools

SANTA FE — The Public Education Department Oct. 27 announced 39 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Rapid response has been initiated, and all pertinent information has been verified with the schools and school districts.
The following new cases have been reported:
- Seven cases in Bernalillo County. Four of the infected individuals are staff members who were last on school property Oct. 9, 20 and 21. The other three infected individuals are students who were last on campus Oct. 13 and 20.
- One case in Cibola County. The infected individual is a student who was last on school
New Mexico Public Regulation Commission Extends Utility Disconnections Of Residential Customers Moratorium

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) at its open meeting Oct. 21 adopted a final rule change that revises three rules pertaining to disconnection of residential gas, electric and water.
This allows the Commission to issue subsequent temporary orders prohibiting disconnection of residential utility customers in New Mexico during any public health emergency.
During the meeting, the Commission approved the subsequent second temporary Order that extends the moratorium on disconnections of residential utility customers until Jan. 6, 2021.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, nationally recognized course designed for adults who work with youth, ages 10-18.

Weather Closes COVID-19 Testing Sites Tuesday … Clients Will Be Notified And Rescheduled

SANTA FE – Many COVID-19 testing sites will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 27, due to inclement weather.
The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) would like to inform the public of cancellations due to the potential for snow and or unfavorable weather statewide.
Each registered client will receive a phone call as well as a text message providing information of the closures. Alerts also also be posted on social media, the www.cv.nmhealth.org and www.nmhealth.org websites.

Effective immediately, Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas has temporarily suspended the Drive Thru Ballot Drop in the Municipal Building parking lot in the best interest of the election staff due to the inclement weather.
Voters can walk-in and hand deliver their ballot to election poll workers inside the Municipal Building or White Rock Town Hall Early Vote Centers.
The Early Vote Centers have remained opened with limited staffing for in-person voting.

NMED News:
The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has updated its daily Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist, which includes New Mexico places of employment that have had two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.
There are 78 establishments on the Watchlist.
A rapid response is initiated when the state learns of a positive COVID-19 case in the workplace. NMED or the state agency initiating the rapid response will offer direction to establishments regarding testing, quarantining and isolating, disinfecting, and COVID-Safe Practices.
