Held at the Orange County Convention Center, I went everywhere – from the West Hall to the South Hall (and back and forth more than I want to remember) to the Outdoor Read More
Just One Thing To Do This Week: Sleep Better
By MARY BETH MAASSENI can think of very few things that are more rewarding than a deep, undisturbed, restful night’s sleep. The kind of profound slumber where you lay your head on the pillow, fall instantly to sleep and wake up eight hours later filled with energy and ready for the day.
There is nothing worse than tossing and turning all night, looking at the alarm clock every 10 minutes, counting down the amount of sleep you are NOT getting and wondering how you are going to make it through the day.
Research, as well as our own life experience, tells us that inadequate sleep affects our mood Read More

Pastor Raul Granillo: Getting Eaten By Zombies
By PASTOR RAUL GRANILLO
Los Alamos
The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. Proverbs 12:15 (NIV)
Every parent who has more than one child and a video game console has heard phrases like, “Turn around and push X,” or “You’re going the wrong way, the zombies are going to eat you!” Don’t forget the infamous, “Here, let me do it for you!”
It’s funny (or not), but as I listened to my oldest son get frustrated at my youngest daughter, I couldn’t help but reminisce about my brothers and me playing Contra and doing the same thing. Oh, the fights my mamma had to break up. I’m not sure Read More

Just One Thing To Do This Week: Reach Out
By MARY BETH MAASSENAs I continue my journey to improve overall well-being and the well-being of those around me, in the last few weeks I have committed to reducing the amount of sugar I consume to less than 24 grams and drinking two to three liters of water per day.
I did not have a problem meeting either goal as I was slayed by a nasty virus for a full week that left me unable to do much but lay on the couch watching PBS period dramas and sipping water all day.
As I started to feel better all I felt like eating was a bowl of cereal. I came to terms with consuming 12 grams of sugar in my cereal, then I happened Read More
