County Pavement Preservation Efforts To Begin On Central
In preparation for winter, Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets will be conducting asphalt patching on Central Avenue as part of ongoing County pavement preservation efforts.
This work is scheduled ahead of the colder months to prevent further deterioration of the roadway surface during winter. The timing was carefully chosen to follow the busy summer season and occur before the asphalt plants close for the winter. Last week County staff went door-to-door to speak directly with many affected businesses.
The planned schedule is as follows:
- Saturday, Sept. 28: Central Avenue
Grapes & Peaches At Los Alamos Farmers Market Thursday

For the Los Alamos Daily Post
Gold was discovered in the Fairbanks area in 1902 when Italian immigrant Felix Pedro struck it rich. He put Fairbanks on the map and thousands of men rushed to interior Alaska in search of the precious yellow metal. They were driven by gold fever and the chance to stake their claims, often enduring harsh conditions amid a rugged landscape. By 1930, though, small mines were replaced by large scale mechanized mining and dredging operations. Read More

Fr. Glenn: Warning … Possible Danger Ahead
Almost every week of the year the Catholic Church has memorials of various saints—the apostles, notable pastors, notable scholars of the past (“doctors” of the Church), and particularly charitable and self-sacrificing individuals such as Elizabeth of Hungary. And, almost every week, there are memorials of martyrs—various men and women of the very early days of faith prior to the Roman emperor Constantine granting recognition to (and eventually converting to) Christianity.
But before Constantine the Romans held a number of persecutions of Christianity, no doubt using Read More
