Wildfires continue to burn in New Mexico with no relief in sight. The weather is continuing to be hot and windy with low humidity. The fires threaten lives and property. They have led to the closure of many popular fishing destinations.

The fires have led to the closure of two state parks in Northeastern New Mexico. Morphy Lake State Park and Coyote Creek State Park are now closed until further notice due to the Hermit Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.

One is reminded of scripture: “How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire!” (James 3:5) With nature’s resilience the land will recover in time, of course, but few of us will likely live long enough to see it back in its recent beauty and glory. Nonetheless, the ravaging of livelihoods, hearths and homes will leave scars for generations.

So, what has caused these recent tragedies which have affected the lives of so many so drastically? Cigarettes Read More

By Laura Leonard
Doctor of Chiropractic
Los Alamos

Getting sick isn’t exactly all in your head but your thoughts about things do play a critical part in how well your body’s physiology handles stress. Psychoneuroimmunology is a field of study that investigates the interactions between thoughts and physiology.

Since the 1960s, research into this field has shown that our thinking patterns directly affect immune, nervous and hormonal systems. Thoughts about life stressors have such a large impact on health that we can’t afford to ignore this interaction as we go through life.
