RATON — The New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) joined Resound Networks yesterday to break ground on a fiber project that will connect 1,370 Raton homes and businesses to high-speed internet.

A new study published by Los Alamos National Laboratory scientists shows that increased water availability can make some types of plants significantly less responsive to subsequent drought conditions than previously thought. The research was published in Nature.

Felix Candia was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held on the maintenance road behind the golf course heading into Walnut Canyon. He had an 18-second differential from his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were Eric Anderson at 19 seconds off; Katie Smeltzer with a 30-second difference; Ethan Wever recording a 39 second differential; and Priscila Rosa at 50 seconds off.

Harold (Hal) Davis, 84, of Los Alamos, NM, passed away on July 18, 2025 with his wife, son, and daughter at his side. Hal will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, and an active member of his community.
Born on June 30, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, Hal had a humble upbringing. He loved playing baseball with his friends and told stories of sneaking into Chicago Bears football games as a youngster.
