Do you ever struggle to find the perfect gift for your loved ones? Would you like to do your holiday shopping a little differently this year?
It’s hard to shop for some people because they already have everything they want or because you want to give something unique or with significance. Alternative giving or graceful giving is a form of gift giving that has a symbolic value to the recipient and benefits a meaningful cause at the same time.

Many people in our community made donations of new or like new items, wrapping supplies and provided treats for the parents and volunteers. Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School students representing National Honor Society, NJROTC, Key Club, Friends of Rachel and Natural Helpers were instrumental in set up, assisting shoppers and wrapping gifts. Heinrich Urges Increased Funding To Protect Places Of Worship, Community Centers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) joined a bipartisan group of Senators in pressing for robust community safety funding in any FY19 appropriations package.
Specifically, the Senators have called for a minimum of $50 million for the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) and $10 million for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Nonprofit Security Grant program, which helps nonprofit organizations like religious institutions, schools and community centers make security improvements.

United Church & Jewish Center Celebrate Joint Service

The United Church of Los Alamos and the Jewish Community Center celebrated their annual joint Thanksgiving Service Tuesday evening at the United Church on Canyon Road.
The service included reflections and music followed by fellowship with desserts.
The service heralds the start of the holiday season for both congregations with love and a time to honor those things members are grateful for throughout the year.
