Udall Secures Critical Funding for Labs, WIPP

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tuesday, Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., joined the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee in approving a bill that provides critical Fiscal Year 2015 funding for New Mexico’s national labs, the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), and other Department of Energy (DOE) and water-related programs important to the state.

The full committee will vote on the bill as early as this week.

Los Alamos Post Office Listed in State Register of Cultural Properties

COUNTY News:

State and National Register Coordinator Steven Moffson of the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division has announced that the Los Alamos Post Office was listed June 13 in the State Register of Cultural Properties by the Cultural Properties Review Committee (CPRC).

The Los Alamos Post Office opened in its present location at 199 Central Park Square in downtown Los Alamos in November 1948, on the site of the Ranch School Trading Post. The CPRC also will recommend that it be forwarded for consideration to the National Register.

Monday, Gov. Susana Martinez unveiled the New Mexico True Breakfast Burrito Byway’s Top 50 burritos that earned a spot on the map.

Two Los Alamos restuarants earned a place on the list: Violas and Chile Works, both located on Trinity Drive.
