Young Artists Invited to Design CROP Walk T-Shirt

CROP WALK News:

Children in fourth through sixth grades are invited this month to submit t-shirt logo designs for the upcoming 2013 Los Alamos CROP Walk & Turkey Trot.

Creative young artists have competed in this event in the past two years. Last year’s winner was Sarah Worley.

A bronze sculpture of a puppy was installed Thursday near the entrance of the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter at 226 East Road.

A new roof-top sculpture also was installed and both were created by artist Carrie Quade.

LANL’s Charlie McMillan Plays Dead in Arsenic and Old Lace

LALT News:

Arsenic and Old Lace returns to the Los Alamos Little Theatre stage 69 years after its 1944 Los Alamos debut as the opening production of LALT’s 70th season.

In the opening production of Arsenic, the dead body was played by none other than J. Robert Oppenheimer, a role reprised Sept. 14 by current Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Charlie McMillan.

McMillan was deemed a standout in his realistic portrayal of a dead man.

Heart of Enchantment Quilt Show This Weekend

Heart of Enchantment Quilt Show, co-sponsored by the Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild and Jemez Mountains Bear Paws Quilting Guild, is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Crossroads Bible Church in Los Alamos.

Admission for the Quilt Show is $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children.
