The Española YMCA Teen Center received a $4,000 regional State Farm Good Neighbor grant Sept. 3 during a presentation at local State Farm agent Lou Santoro’s office.

Fall Plants At Farmers Market Thursday

As the weather starts to cool down and crops and plants start to slow down, vendors at the Los Alamos Farmers Market will begin closing up shop for the season. This week is the final of the season for Joel Daeschel of Cedar Grove Nursery and the last chance to buy his plants this year.

The market opens 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., every Thursday through the end of October in the Los Alamos Library parking lot.

I recently visited Raul Rodriguez at his S&J Farm in El Guique just north of Espanola. After crossing the Chama River, his farm is about four miles to the turn off into the valley where El Guique sits among the trees that line the river basin.
