Chamber Breakfast Features Los Alamos Beer Co-op

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce March Business Breakfast will feature a presentation on the Los Alamos Beer Co-op by board member Micheline Devaurs.
Devaurs will present the case for the Beer Co-op as a viable economic development model and also bring the audience up to date on the funding model, progress, plans and concept for a Los Alamos tap room.

Marsha Gilford, vice president of Public Affairs for Smith’s Food & Drug Stores, Inc. in Salt Lake City contacted the Los Alamos Daily Post Wednesday after learning that area businesses had to come to the aid of local Girl Scouts, who due to policy changes, would be allowed only two days to sell cookies in front of the Smith’s stores in Los Alamos and White Rock this year.

Local Businesses Come to Girl Scouts’ Rescue!
COMMUNITY News:Typically in March you would find your Girl Scout cookies on sale at both Smith’s locations every weekend. Due to policy changes, the girls were only given two days to sell in front of the stores this year. While some of you might be relieved by this news, it was a huge blow to the local Girl Scouts who count on monies earned with cookie sales for their troops needs, activities and camp.
The call went out to several local businesses who were more than happy to let the Girl Scouts sell cookies outside their businesses.

LA Co+op Celebrates 3rd Birthday Saturday

The Los Alamos Co+op Market will celebrate its three-year anniversary Saturday. Coined its “Tree Year” Anniversary, the Co+op is donating trees to help off-set carbon created by co-op operations.
The Co+op also will support the local environment by sponsoring a seed ball making activity led by the Family YMCA. The wildflower seed balls will later be dispersed on open space land by Family YMCA youth to help beautify community open spaces, especially in areas needing restoration.
