Unsurprisingly, a number of his short chapters focus on love, kindness, finding peace, and various virtues. Definitely worth the read.

In perusing a few chapters the other evening centering upon love, I found myself reflecting on the “why” of love. Why do we love. What do we want from it? Why do we do it? Why is it so visceral and seemingly ingrained into our very being? Read More

Those of us who claim a Christ-centered faith know we have not lived up to the model of the godly life set for us by Jesus. But we know that grace abounds and that our God is a god of love and mercy. We know we will get through whatever awaits us this week, as we always have. We do not expect a life without challenges. God’s promise is that we are loved no matter what befalls Read More

Rio Grande Foundation President Paul Gessing

The City of Española, at the behest of Mayor John Ramon Vigil, will soon consider adopting a ban on plastic bags like those used at grocery stores. While proponents of such bans typically support them on environmental grounds (cut down on plastic waste etc.) the Mayor seems to believe that banning plastic grocery bags will have a positive impact on the City’s litter problems.

A few years ago I supported a certain candidate for City Council. I displayed her yard sign in my front yard. She won the election, and she told me three of my neighbors had told her they voted for her because they saw my sign.

This year I have not put out any yard signs. A yard sign left over from the last election is gathering dust in the garage. I have not been approached by volunteers from any campaign asking me to put up a sign or offering to give me one. I think there’s a trend.

I am seeing fewer yard signs this year than in previous elections. Read More
