SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) will host “Wellness Wednesday 3.18: One Brain, One Day” – a special brain health and brain injury awareness event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 18 in the Jemez Rooms on campus at 6400 Richards Ave.
The event will bring together community partners, health advocates and residents from across Northern New Mexico to learn more about brain injury, prevention and recovery. Partners include the State of New Mexico Governor’s Commission on Disability, Stagecoach Foundation, Presbyterian, SFCC Foundation and Christus St. Vincent. Read More

Put another leaf in the table! A big crowd of Lab retirees showed up for breakfast Tuesday at Muy Salsas this week. Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) retirees and potential retirees are invited to drop in at the Laboratory Retiree Group (lalrg.org) monthly breakfast social, 8:30-10:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Muy Salsas at 1315 Trinity Drive. The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers softball team hosted the Valencia Jaguars on Thursday for a non-district game played on Hope Field at Overlook Park in White Rock.
The Jaguars started strong in the first inning with a home run by Rosalyn Rael and two additional runs to lead the Toppers.

Tree Pruning Scheduled On Central Avenue March 10-11

Los Alamos County advises residents that Southwest Fire Defense will be conducting scheduled tree pruning along Central Avenue, Tuesday March 10 and Wednesday March 11.
Crews will begin work at 4th Street and progress along the street toward Bathtub Row.
During this time, sections of the sidewalk within the work area will be temporarily closed. Clearly marked detour signs will be posted to guide pedestrians safely around the work zones.
