LAJC Hosts 2013 Community Seder March 26

The Los Alamos Jewish Center proudly presents the 2013 Community Seder at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center

The community is invited to join the LAJC celebrate the second night of Passover with a great story, great food, socializing and Afikomen prizes for young children.

Rabbi Jack Shlachter will lead the Seder. The Community Seder will be catered by Walter Burke Catering of Santa Fe.

Los Alamos Soccer Collection Drive Underway

Every year children outgrow their soccer clothes and shoes and now there is a local opportunity to donate those items to children in Uganda.

The “Soccer for Uganda” drive is underway in Los Alamos and White Rock to collect used soccer clothes and shoes along with used soccer balls, cleats, shin guards, soccer socks and jerseys.   

      Los Alamos Drop-off: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road.

Volunteer Opportunities on Santa Fe National Forest

The Santa Fe National Forest is offering spring trail projects to volunteers to build new sections of trail.

Specific projects include construction of winding trails and retaining walls. There are six days from which to choose and there is no experience required.

The trail projects will be hosted on the Dead Dog Trail, located west of Santa Fe in the Caja del Rio for the following dates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day:

  • Saturday, March 30

LAMC Lobby Shop Has New Look

Auxilian Teri Nixon has brought a new look to the Los Alamos Medical Center’s Lobby Shop. The Hospital Lobby Shop is run by the hospital’s Auxiliary, who put the shop’s profits into their Community Health Aid Fund. The Fund offers scholarships and educational materials for classes and workshops to LAMC’s hospital staff, and indigent medical and pharmacy aid to those who qualify. Come to a free Cloudspotting Class led by Los Alamos National Laboratory Meteorologist Jean Dewart at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center.
