Resident Reveals Pigeon Infestation at Stables

A local resident has contacted the Los Alamos Daily Post for assistance in solving a situation that has developed at the Los Alamos County Horse Stables.

The resident submitted the following this morning:

“Just wondered if there was anything you could do to help us – someone has been feeding pounds and pounds of birdseed to the pigeons in the Farrier Shed by the stables for more than a year.

That building is full of feces and the pigeons are getting to be a nuisance, getting feces in water troughs and barns throughout the stables.

YMCA Opens Second Facility March 11

In support of expanding health opportunities to the community, The Family YMCA will celebrate the grand opening of a second facility, the YMCA Express, 140 Central Park Square, March 11.

Throughout the day, community members are invited to try classes 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at no charge. The day includes equipment and new class demonstrations, an open-house lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and at 12:30 p.m., a ribbon cutting.

PAC 8 Will Offer Spring Music Video Classes

PAC 8 News:

PAC 8 is offering Spring Music Video Classes. Classes will be held in two sessions.

One session is March 6, 13, 20, and 27. The next session will be held April 8-11, during Spring Break.

All classes are 2-4 p.m. and taught at PAC 8. Classes are for students ages 8-14.

Students will learn the process of making a music video. During this process, they will learn to record audio, operate a camera, basic lighting techniques, basic editing and mixing.

All classes will be taught by Eric Heithaus of Santa Fe Music Videos, who is a recipient of the AMC Best Music Video Award.

Los Alamos is in for a dramatic treat when actor/writer David Mills performs an excerpt from his show, “Dreamweaver: The Works of Langston Hughes” at 7 p.m. Monday, March 4 at UNM-LA in the Student Center Lecture Hall (Bldg. 2.)

Saturday, March 23 the Pajarito Environmental Education Center, area arts organizations and galleries are teaming up to bring a new recycled art event to Los Alamos. 

Re-Art will be held at PEEC from 10 a.m.-noon and will feature an art supplies swap, a recycled crafts fair and tons of fun hands-on recycled art activities for everyone to enjoy.
