Join longtime New Mexico resident Slim Randles at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Mesa Public Library for an evening of wild, funny and homespun stories both from his work as a newspaperman and those from his days actually in the wild.

Randles will talk about his current syndicated column, which runs in more than 100 newspapers nationwide and his new book Home Country, a compilation of the best of his wit and wisdom from his column of the same title.

UNM-LA presents Third Annual Music Marathon

Enjoy an entire day of local music at the third annual UNM-LA Music Marathon. The Marathon is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb.10 in the UNM-LA Student Center.

The event is free and open to everyone. Donations will benefit UNM-Los Alamos student scholarships.

The day will include everything from Renaissance music for viols to modern jazz with the Craig Martin Experience.

Bandelier Grill’s New Owner Shares Revitalization Plans

Brian Appell has purchased the Bandelier Grill at N.M. 4 and Sherwood Boulevard in White Rock. Appell is the longtime owner of Los Ojos Restaurant & Saloon in Jemez Springs. He said that he plans to update the menu to include the most popular items at Los Ojos and to extend the hours of operation to include daily breakfast and Sunday brunch. New Library Manager Speaks at Feb. 14 ‘Lunch with a Leader’

The Los Alamos League of Women Voters invites the community to Lunch with a Leader from 11:40 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14.

This month, the guest will be Steven Thomas, the new Mesa Public Library manager. He will not have to go far to deliver his talk, since the event is upstairs in Mesa Library.

The Los Alamos Historical Society will sponsor a talk by Carlo Blasi, Eva Coisson and Federica Ottoni, from the University of Parma, Italy.

The speakers are Italian scientists and historians of Renaissance architecture. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Fuller Lodge.
