‘Meetup’ at Dixie Girl Every Friday Night

Several people gathered Friday night for a ‘Meetup’ event during Happy Hour at the Dixie Girl, 1789 Central Ave. Community members are invited to join the group or simply drop in around 5:30 p.m. each Friday, during which time the restaurant bar will offer $3 beers, $5 well drinks, $7 martinis, peel and eat shrimp, oysters on the half shell and other bar food. The Los Alamos Photography Club (LAPC) will be hosting its annual photography show for 2013 at the Mesa Public Library from Monday, March 4 through Friday March 29.

Photos should be dropped off at the Library Saturday, March 2. Non-club members are encouraged to limit their entries to no more than three photos.

There will be LAPC representatives present from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2 to receive them. Participants should pick up their entries Saturday, March 30.

Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service Inc., moved Jan. 24-25 from temporary quarters on the second floor of the Los Alamos Technical Associates Building on Central Avenue to their permanent location at the former Boy Scout Cabin on Canyon Road.
 
Telephones and computer systems were up and running quickly at the new location in order for the organization to continue serving their large clientele.

Council Seeks Volunteers for DPU Charter Review Committee

The County Council announced Jan. 29 that it is re-opening the process to apply for membership on the Department of Public Utilities’ Charter Review Committee.

Council will appoint a five-member committee to study utilities-related sections of the County’s charter.

The Committee will include one member of Council, one member of the Department of Public Utilities’ Board, and three citizens who meet any one of the following qualifications:

1) A member of the community with Management experience;

UNM-LA Holds Home-School College Day

UNM-LA News:

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos invites the public to Home-School College Day. The event will introduce students in grades seven through 12 and their families to the college campus. 

Home-School College day is 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 13. An RSVP is appreciated and ensures that the campus will have sufficient food and information packets for everyone attending.
