A potent cold front that surged across New Mexico Friday with strong gusty winds and areas of light snow will usher in a prolonged blast of well below normal temperatures through early next week.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) explains that a large upper level trough of low pressure taking shape over the western United States will remain nearly stationary over the region through early next week.

The school district is asking the community for vote on a $20 million bond that would fund the rebuilding necessary at Aspen Elementary School and provide much needed funding for upgrades to utilities and maintenance to other schools in the district. Longtime Los Alamos resident Fran Rogers celebrated her 91st birthday, Thursday Jan. 10, at the Pajarito Brewpub and Grill surrounded by family and live-in caregivers.
Rogers was born in Minnehaha County, S.D. in 1922. She moved to Los Alamos in 1947 with her husband Warren Haas.
Rogers worked as the chief telephone operator for the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and held many positions with AEC and DOE through the years.
