Group Auditions Announced for VanChocStraw

LALT News:

Group auditions will be 7:30 p.m., Nov. 4 and 5 for Van Choc Straw (think Neopolitan ice cream.)

The auditions tale place in the Green Room of the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St. 

Scripts are available at the Reference Desk of the Mesa Public Library.

Board Secretary Sue Watts of the Pajarito Environmental Education Center is the guest speaker for Tuesday’s Rotary Club lunch meeting, which begins at 11:45 a.m. at the Dixie Girl Restaurant on Central Avenue.

At the age of three, Watts ignored her mother’s strict instructions, strayed to the far side of the house and encountered a cow.

Fundraiser Benefits UNM-LA Scholarship Students

The sold-out UNM-Los Alamos Scholarship Fundraiser held Oct. 12 in the UNM-LA Student Center, raised more than $10,000 for student scholarships.

The event included a silent auction and a live auction with auctioneer Jody Shepard. More than 150 pieces were auctioned to benefit UNM-LA scholarship students.

‘The Black Hole’ Closing Forever Nov. 3

Barbara Grothus, President of Los Alamos Sales Company, a unique salvage store affectionately dubbed “The Black Hole,” has announced that the business will close to the public on Nov. 3.

The business, established in 1953, has operated at 4015 Arkansas Ave., in Los Alamos since the 1970’s.
