Deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday to Submit Letters of Interest for Vacancy on Los Alamos County Council

So far two letters of interest have been submitted to the County Administrator’s Office with regard to the open vacancy on the Los Alamos County Council.

The deadline to apply is quickly approaching. Letters of interest must be received in the County Administrator’s Office by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28. The County Administrator’s Office is at 133 Central Park Square.

To qualify for consideration, an applicant must be a resident and registered voter of Los Alamos County and not be employed by the County.

Public Scoping Underway for Bandelier Transportation Plan

The National Park Service has initiated the process to complete a Transportation Plan/Environmental Assessment to improve transportation conditions at Bandelier National Monument.

No Arrests During Wednesday’s DWI Checkpoint

Local police officers conducted a DWI checkpoint Wednesday night as part of their ongoing effort to keep drunk drivers off the streets of Los Alamos.

The operation occurred between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., on East Road near the Los Alamos County Airport, during which 175 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. No arrests were made.

Sgt. Jeremy Duran reported that two vehicles were pulled into a secondary location. Field sobriety tests were administered to each driver, they passed and were released at the scene.

Los Alamos police will continue to conduct these checkpoints throughout the County Read More
