Local Democrats Host Booth at Overlook Park Wednesday

The Democratic Party of Los Alamos July 4 Celebration at Overlook Park will still take place despite the fireworks cancellation.
 
The DPLA will have a booth set up again to pass out water, flags and meet the public.
 
Many of our local candidates will be present, and the music and celebration will go on as planned.

County Issues Community Update as LANL Enters Stage III Fire Restrictions

COUNTY News Alert:

The Los Alamos County Fire Department (LAFD) would like to ask the public for their continued support and assistance during Extreme Fire Danger.

The Los Alamos National Laboratory properties have entered Stage III Fire Restrictions effective July 3 and the LAFD supports their actions.

Therefore, the Los Alamos Fire Department has implemented the attached restrictions to all County owned or forested areas within Los Alamos County effective at 8 a.m. today, Tuesday July 3.

White Rock Recycling and Repaving Begins July 9

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Pavement Division will begin recycling and repaving work Monday, July 9 in White Rock.

The work is funded under the FY12 Pavement Preservation Program.

The following streets will be resurfaced:

In White Rock – Kilby, Donna, Garver, Connie, Cheryl, Cheryl Court, Cañada Way, Barcelona, Rover (from Carlsbad to Grand Canyon), Aragon (west of Rover), Azure and Shirlane.

Also, the following streets are scheduled for resurfacing in Los Alamos – Range Road and North Mesa Road (from Hawk Drive to just east of the Posse Lodge.)

Public Notice: Lodgers Tax Quorum May be Present

COUNTY News:

Members of the Los Alamos County Lodger’s Tax Advisory Board may attend a “Visit with the Proprietor of Back Porch Bed & Breakfast” at 1:30 p.m., Thursday July 5 at 13 Karen Circle in White Rock.

A quorum of board members may be present, however, no action will be taken.

The event is part of the Los Alamos County Lodger’s Tax Advisory Board’s mission to assess and establish ongoing communications with the County’s lodging businesses and management. Read More

Fire Department Asks Residents for Help

LAFD News:

With the current Fire Danger at EXTREME, and the anticipation of the fire danger level elevating to Stage 3 in the coming days, the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) is asking for the community’s help.

 

LAFD asks people to refrain from using fireworks, campfires or bbq’s on public land. LAFD also asks people to smoking only inside a vehicle or building during these extremely dry conditions, especially during the annual Fourth of July celebration.

Rotary Hosts Blood Drive with United Blood Services

ROTARY News:

The members of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos are partnering with United Blood Services (UBS) to host a blood drive July 12-13.

The public is invited to participate in this life-saving activity.

There is a hero inside each person ready to make a difference when others need help.

People who donate blood are heroes to those in need.
