NM4 Improvements Project
Starting Monday, traffic will be switched to one lane of traffic on each side of the road. Work will continue in the middle median area. Speed limit within the construction area is 30 mph. Expect modifications to the work zone as work progresses Please drive defensively and watch for construction vehicles. The contractor plans to work on Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and 31.

County Horse Show July 7 at Brewer Arena

The Los Alamos County Recreation Division will present the Los Alamos County Horse Show at 9 a.m., Saturday July 7 at Brewer Arena.

Horse Show registration forms are available at the Aquatic Center or www.losalamosnm.us/rec.

All registration forms must be returned to the Aquatic Center. The deadline for pre-registration is 5 p.m., Thursday July 5.

Pre-Registration: $5 class entry per participant (by July 5.)

Extreme Drought Forces Fireworks Cancelation, Celebration Will Go On

Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos, in consultation with the Los Alamos Fire Department, in consideration of the dangerously dry conditions embracing Northern New Mexico has decided that a fireworks display will not be included in this years 4th of July Celebration Event at Overlook Park.

All other activities, including Atomic City Transit to the park, will go on as planned.

Longmire Television Series Filming This Week in Los Alamos and at the Ski Hill

COUNTY News:

This week, Los Alamos residents will see those familiar yellow and black signs guiding film talent and production crews through town to base camps and film sites within the County.

These signs will post the letters “LM”—for Longmire, The hour-long drama series from Warner Horizon Television, which began filming in March of this year in Santa Fe, Las Vegas and the surrounding areas.

Filming is scheduled to begin tomorrow through Thursday at private homes in Los Alamos and at the Ski Hill.

Power Outage Affects About 300 Local Customers

DPU News:

Power was interrupted to North Mesa beginning at 9:18 a.m., Tuesday according to the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities.

An electric line operations crew caused a brief power outage to North Mesa while preparing to perform a 700-foot, 3-phase cable pull near the base of Pueblo Canyon.

About 300 customers were affected. Power outage status and notifications were provided to customers by 311 Customer Care Center staff and to online customers and cell phones via DPU’s Facebook and Twitter.

Power was restored to the area within about 20 minutes.
