Step Up Gallery Extends Deadline For County Employee Art Showcase Entries To Nov. 21

STEP UP GALLERY News:
Are you an artist in your spare time and a retired or current Los Alamos County employee?
Submit your fine art, fine crafts, and photography, including all types of drawing, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, pastels, printmaking, fabric arts, jewelry, ceramics, woodcarving, and sculpture to the 2025 Los Alamos County Employee Art Showcase.
The deadline for submitting applications has just been extended to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21.

County’s Inclusivity Task Force Survey Ends Nov. 30
COUNTY News:
The Inclusivity Task Force of Los Alamos County seeks the community’s feedback on a short survey about accessibility regarding County facilities, programming and projects.
Public feedback is being gathered in an effort to help make the community more inclusive and welcoming to all people.
The Inclusivity Task Force will continue to collect as much data as possible through the end of November.

Pavilion Construction and Los Alamos County announced that The Hill Apartments at 141 36th Street has officially received certificates of occupancy. The approvals include the clubhouse and three of the development’s eight apartment buildings, resulting in 24 new apartments now available for lease.

The Los Alamos Topper Volleyball team closed out its season with a win over the Pojoaque in a match played in Griffith Gym Thursday night. The Toppers swept the Elkettes 3-0 for the win which brings their record to 12-10 over all and 7-1 in district play for the season.

County Inclusivity Task Force To Meet Nov. 12
County Ice Rink Opening Delayed Due To Faulty Motor

COUNTY News:
Opening day for the Los Alamos County Ice Rink is delayed due to a faulty motor in the new chiller. The motor experienced an internal short circuit during performance testing conducted by Modern Mechanical Ices Systems (MMIS), the chiller designer-builder.
MMIS was onsite at the time of the incident, and although a fire was detected inside the motor frame, they were able to react quickly to prevent any damage to the chiller or the facility.
Repairs are anticipated within the week, allowing for an estimated new opening day of Nov. 28.

County Government Offices To Close Nov. 11 In Observance Of Veterans Day
COUNTY News:
In observance of Veterans Day, Los Alamos County government offices and services will join other federal, state, and local governments and close on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025.
The County’s administrative offices, Atomic City Transit service, and the Environmental Services division are closed on Tuesday.
In addition, the following facilities will close or have modified hours:
- White Rock and Mesa libraries – Open 1–5 p.m.
- Aquatic Center – Closed
- Los Alamos County Ice Rink – Closed
- Golf Course and Golf Shop – Closed
- Utilities will be closed for regular business, however crews are on-call

The Topper Girl’s soccer team suffered a loss in the hands of the Hope Christian Huskies in a State Semifinals game played on the soccer field at Bernalillo High School Tuesday night by a score of 0-4. The Toppers closed out their season as 4A-2 District Champions and a record of 14-6-2. The Huskies just proved to be the stronger of the two teams and controlled the game.
