The Los Alamos County Fire Department (LAFD) has announced a new contracted wildfire-mitigation project that marks the first use of Burnbot technology in New Mexico.

LAFD has contracted directly with Burnbot, an industry leader in advanced fuel-management technology, and is working in partnership with the Santa Fe County Fire Department’s Black Canyon Crew to bring this innovative approach to local wildfire risk reduction.

County Starts Installation Of New EV Charging Infrastructure

The County Sustainability Office, in partnership with Public Works, is excited to announce the start of the community’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure expansion project. The first step will see the installation of 12 new EV charging stations, powered by six state-of-the-art Level 2 dual-port networked chargers, at the Municipal Building parking lot, located at 1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos.

Atomic City Transit (ACT) shuttle service at Bandelier National Monument is suspend beginning Oct. 1, 2025, until further notice.

County Survey Will Gauge Gas Safety Awareness

An upcoming survey will measure safety awareness of natural gas among Los Alamos County community members. It will also give insight into the effectiveness of natural gas safety outreach efforts of the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU).

Switch Replacement Requires Outage On North Mesa Oct. 7

COUNTY News:

Many North Mesa residents will be without electricity during the business day on Tuesday, Oct. 7, as Electric Distribution Division crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) conduct necessary work on the electrical system.

Properties from the Broadview neighborhood east to the end of the mesa are all within the area that will be without electricity for the day.
