Hello Los Alamos County,

My name is Dr. Andrew Fischer Wright, though many of y’all may know me as Andy. Based on my experiences over the past seven years working in higher education, I decided to announce my candidacy for a position on the UNM-Los Alamos Advisory Board last month.

LAPD Swearing-In Ceremony To Be Held Today

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Police Department is hosting a swearing-in ceremony for newly promoted Commander Brent Hudspeth, newly promoted Sergeant Kirk Williamson, and newly promoted Sergeant Joseph Dezendorf. The ceremony is scheduled at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, and will take place in the Los Alamos Magistrate Courtroom, with the Honorable Magistrate Judge Catherine Taylor presiding over the event. Los Alamos County Community Services Department Facilities Closed For Mandatory Training

COUNTY News:

Facilities that fall under the Los Alamos County Community Services Department will be closed on the following dates and times for staff to attend mandatory training. 

 

 

  • Sept. 24, 2025
    • Los Alamos County Ice Rink will close at 4 p.m. for the remainder of the evening. Scheduled practices are also cancelled for this facility.

    • Aquatic Center, closed from 8 a.m.–12 p.m.

Council Adopts MRA For Eastern Downtown Los Alamos

The Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) is officially in place for the eastern section of downtown Los Alamos. Los Alamos County Council approved 5-1, with Councilor David Reagor opposed, to adopt the MRA during its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 9. Councilor Beverly Neal-Clinton was absent.

Supporters of the MRA emphasize this can help inject revitalization into the eastern downtown area marred by vacant buildings and blighted properties.

Removal Of Concrete Barrier Wall Along Trinity Drive Near Ashley Pond Park Begins Thursday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County street crews will begin removing concrete barrier walls along Trinity Drive behind the sidewalk between 20th Street and Oppenheimer Drive, near Ashley Pond.

Crews will conduct the removal work, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, Thursday, Sept. 18, through Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The project starts in the parking lot facing Trinity Drive at Ashley Pond Park, with a section of the parking lot closed.
