SANTA FE — The New Mexico Court of Appeals sent a rebuke to the Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC) and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) regarding its decision to uphold the NMED’s denial of a public hearing requested by Communities for Clean Water (CCW) as part of a groundwater discharge permit process for the Department of Energy/Los Alamos National Security (DOE/LANS).

Marcos Romero Slated For First Appearance In Concealing Identity Case

COURT News:

Marcos Romero, 37, of Chimayo is slated for a first appearance Jan. 11, 2018 before Los Alamos Magistrate Judge Pat Casados on three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one charge of concealing his identity.

The charges stem from a Dec. 15 visit to a Hacienda Street address by Los Alamos Police Cpl. Jaime Gonzales and Cpl. Ben Irving in response to a reported domestic dispute. Although not involved in the dispute, Romero claimed to be someone other than himself because he knew he had an outstanding warrant.

Two Magistrate Court Judges, Judge Pat Casados and Judge Alexandra Naranjo, have recused themselves from a Los Alamos embezzlement case. Karyne Archuleta of Los Alamos is now scheduled for a first appearance Jan.18 before Judge Matthew S. Page.

A criminal summons was filed Dec. 5 charging Archuleta with embezzlement of more than $17,500 from her former employer, Annette Weyrauch, owner of Physical Therapy Plus in Los Alamos. Drugs And Paraphernalia Found On Local Inmate

A 30-year-old Fairview woman was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession or use of drug paraphernalia after she was arrested Dec. 19 in the Los Alamos County Detention Center.

Plea Agreement Underway For Tabatha Jones

Tabatha Jones of White Rock waived her preliminary hearing Friday in Los Alamos Magistrate Court on a charge of embezzling more than $2,500 and less than $20,000 from the non-profit Los Alamos Youth Football and Cheerleading League (LAYFCL).

The charge is a third-degree felony, which carries a possible penalty of three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.
