Ingredients:

One pre-roasted chicken, skinned and meat taken off
About 7 Swanson no-salt chicken stock containers (Albertsons)
1 head of celery
1 ½ onions
1 parsnip, medium to large size, peeled and rough chopped
4 cups of carrots,
2 inches of raw ginger, peeled and rough chopped
5 cloves of garlic, rough chopped
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoons of cracked pepper
¼ cup white vinegar
4 baby bella mushrooms, sliced
1 or 2 packages of frozen egg noodles (optional)
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1½ teaspoons dried parsley

The Dixie Girl Restaurant at 1789 Central Ave., is holding a contest during January to rename the restaurant. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate.

A randon drawing will be held in the event of multiple entries for the winning name. Pick up a “Name the Restuarant” form at the restaurant. The form also includes the patron’s three favorite and three least favorite menu items.

Watch for the restaurant’s new name and modified menu coming soon.

Hot Christmas Punch

Ingredients:

2 quarts (64oz) apple juice
1 1/2 quart (48oz) cranberry juice
3/4 cup brown sugar
4 sticks of cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves

Directions:

Mix all together in a sauce pan and heat and stir until the brown sugar is dissolved. Serve warm.

Champagne Punch

Ingredients:

1 Bottle of Champagne
3 oz. brandy
2 cups ginger ale

Mushrooms, sliced
About 12-15 small squares(1/2″) of cream cheese, cutting is hard, colder is better
Spinach leaves
Caramelized onions
Imitation crab
Small pieces of shrimp, cooked

The owner of the Subway restaurant on Central Avenue told the Los Alamos Daily Post Tuesday afternoon that he will open for business in late January.
 
Larry Singh explained that renovation and remodeling underway since early summer has been extensive in the former Don Taylor Photography space just east of 15th Street.
 
“We are making the restaurant very nice with higher upgrades,” Singh said.

6 tablespoons flour
1 ¾ cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 pkg frozen chopped spinach, drained and squeezed until very dry
2 cups chopped cooked chicken
3 cloves garlic, pressed
1 cup cottage cheese
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Ingredients:

2 pounds beef (90% or more)
1/3 cup dried parsley flakes
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 cups Rice Krispies
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/3 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons very chopped onions
 
Sauce:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcester sauce
pepper
2 teaspoons hot sauce
2 tablespoons grape jelly
1/4 cup vinegar
1 can tomato sauce
