Creole Nouvelle co-owner Esther Lucchini is surrounded by patrons inside her restaurant Friday night. She and her husband Peter Lucchini, who co-owns the eatery at 1793 Deacon St., opened for dinner for the first time Friday to great success and will continue to open 5:30-8 p.m. every Friday going forward. Black forest ham, sliced thin
Smoked turkey, sliced thin
Swiss cheese, slices
Smoked gouda cheese, slices
Mayonnaise
Country Dijon mustard
Ground pepper

1 tablespoon of melted butter
3 eggs
Powdered sugar
Raspberry or current jam

Community Invited to All You Can Eat Crab Fest

ROTARY News:

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos cordially invites the community to its 5th Annual Crab Fest, an all-you-can-eat crab and prawn family-style dinner, Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. 

The cash bar opens at 5:30 p.m.; dinner, catered by Blue Window Bistro, will be served at 7 p.m., and the event includes music, as well as silent and live auctions. Tickets are $50 each; reserved tables of 10 are $500.

Ingredients:
1 frozen pie crust, thawed
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1 ½ cups sugar
3 tablespoons flour
3 whole eggs and 1 egg yolk
1 cup buttermilk, warmed slightly (80-90 degrees)

Ingredients:
1 cup of corn meal for Polenta
1 cup heavy cream
2 ½ cup milk
¾ cup sugar
½ cup coconut
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup each of three chopped dried fruits (I used cherries, apricots, blueberries)
 
Directions:
In a medium sauce pan, mix together the cream, milk, sugar and coconut. After the sugar has dissolved, add the corn meal by pouring it a little at a time while whisking.

A new name has emerged for the Dixie Girl Restaurant following a three-day survey published this week in the Los Alamos Daily Post. Community members cast 1,215 votes to rename the Dixie Girl Restaurant and chose The Manhattan Project by a sound margin.

  • Los Alamos Bar & Grill: 327 votes – 27.25 percent

Bottle of Perradew peppers (Albertsons or Whole Foods)
Herb goat Cheese, room temperature
Romanoff black Lumpfish Caviar (Albertsons)

Directions:

Drain the peppers well.
