Alexandra Berl of Los Alamos has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a state-level Certificate of Excellence from The 2013 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.  

A state-level Certificate of Excellence signifies that Berl was among the top 10 percent of all applicants from New Mexico in this year’s program. She is a junior at Los Alamos High School.

School Board Holds Feb. 21 Executive Session

The Los Alamos School Board has scheduled an Executive Session at 4:30 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 21 at 2075 Trinity Dr., Suite V.

The purpose of the session is to discuss Superintendent Gene Schmidt’s performance evaluation and contract per 10-15-1-H(2) of the “Open Meetings Act – limited personnel matter.

Pinon PTO Hosts Fun Run/Walk

PINON PTO News:

Pinon Elementary School PTO will host St. Patrick’s Day-themed Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at Pinon Elementary School.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the Pinon Elementary School website at https:////www.laschools.net/pinon.

Early registration forms and fees are due March 1. Adults (18 and up) are $10 and $5 for youth. Late registration (after March 1) is $20 for adults and $15 for youth.

Team 4153 Rushes to Complete Frisbee Shooting Robot

TEAM 4153 News:

Los Alamos Team 4153 is entering the 2013 FIRST Robotic Competition and has been hard at work since Jan 5. The team has just 45 days to design, build, program, debug and learn to operate their robot. The robot must be completed by Tuesday, Feb. 19.
