Europe 2013 travelers are having a craft, coffee and chocolate sale 2:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the lobby of Los Alamos National Bank.

The 22 high school seniors touring Central Europe with a local teacher next summer have worked hard to create Valentine’s gifts to raise money for their trip.

AAUW Invites Public to View ‘THE INVISIBLE WAR’

Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., the Los Alamos branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is showing “THE INVISIBLE WAR” as a fundraiser for AAUW’s Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF.)

The film will be shown in the Jeannette O. Wallace Hall (Bldg. 5) at UNM-LA. Admission is $10 adults and $5 students. All proceeds will be donated to LAF.

Enjoy an entire day of local music at the third annual UNM-LA Music Marathon. The Marathon is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb.10 in the UNM-LA Student Center.

The event is free and open to everyone. Donations will benefit UNM-Los Alamos student scholarships.

Aspen Teacher Wins ‘Great Ideas’ Grant

NMPW Offers Scholarships in Journalism

NMPW News:

New Mexico Press Women invites students to apply for three higher education scholarships offered this year, open to students regardless of gender.

Main criteria for the awards are career potential and financial need, although scholastic standing is a consideration. The deadline is Friday, March 22.

NMPW offers a $2,000 Cary Herz scholarship to students studying photojournalism. This scholarship will be awarded to the student whose photojournalism best reflects Herz’s work.

LAHS Blood Drive Breaks Donor Record

LAHS News:

Los Alamos High School recently hosted its second blood drive of the school year.

During the Tuesday Jan. 29 event, 55 donors successfully donated 59 units of blood.

This is the highest number of successful donors in the history of blood drives at LAHS.

These donations are enough to help up to 177 patients.

Students who attend schools that host two blood drives a year are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship through United Blood Services.
