NHCC Employees Win Hard-Fought Union Rights

ALBUQUERQUE — Long misclassified as “temporary” workers at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) will be allowed to join CWA Local 7076, with the same benefits and legal protections as other State employees.

The Los Alamos County Community Services has been named a 2026 National Gold Medal Award finalist for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management, placing the local parks and recreation system among the top agencies in the country in this population class.

Los Alamos Community Foundation Announces New Executive Director Alison Watkins

After a broad search, Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) has announced longtime community resident Alison Watkins as its new executive director. She is scheduled to start in the position on May 27.

Watkins grew up in Los Alamos and re-transplanted from Fort Worth in 2011, was most recently employed as the assistant director of the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce.

“I hope to strengthen the relationships I’ve already built within our community while forming many new ones along the way,” Watkins said.

Community Invited To LAHS Military Enlistee Recognition

The community is invited to attend the Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Military Enlistee Recognition Ceremony 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, in the Lower Commons at LAHS.

This special event honors graduating seniors who have committed to military service. The evening will include recognition of enlistees, support from military recruiters, and remarks from guest speaker Mark Davis, a 30-year Navy veteran.
