Nine New Mexico Companies Awarded More Than $2.4 Million In State Job Training Funds Including Spiritus Technologies PBC In White Rock

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) announced that it approved funding for up to $2.4 Million to assist companies in hiring and training New Mexico employees. The Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) approved this monthly allotment to nine New Mexico companies, including Spiritus Technologies PBC in White Rock.

Governor Reappoints Sonya Carrasco-Trujillo To Five-Year Term As Workers’ Compensation Judge

ALBUQUERQUE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has reappointed Sonya Carrasco-Trujillo to serve a five-year term as a workers’ compensation judge for the Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA), effective June 10, 2024. Carrasco-Trujillo was initially appointed to a one-year term, beginning June 10, 2023.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate 3.8% In May 2024

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in May, unchanged from the rate in April and up from 3.6 percent in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in May was 4.0 percent, up from 3.9 percent in April and up from 3.7 percent in May 2023.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 15,700 jobs, or 1.8 percent, between May 2023 and May 2024. The majority of gains came from the private sector.

Y News:

Registration spots are still open for YESCorps weeks 4 and 6. Participants will learn by doing, make new friends and have fun.

Activities planned for those two weeks include:

  • Backpacking/orienteering training;
  • Trips to Valles Caldera National Monument;
  • PEEC gardening projects; and
  • YCC trail work experience.

On the Fun Fridays, participants will get to play frisbee golf, BBQ and other games at North Mesa Picnic Grounds for one Friday and do the climbing wall and Lu Games for the second Friday.
