PEEC and SALA Event Center host the Backcountry Film Festival, sponsored by Century Bank 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26. The community is invited to watch the films live for the first time in 3 years.

PEEC is screening the Disney princess adventure movie, Frozen, 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
When their kingdom becomes trapped in perpetual winter, fearless Anna (Kristen Bell) joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer sidekick to find Anna’s sister, Snow Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel), and break her icy spell. Tickets are $7 per person and can be purchased here.

Los Alamos Light Opera Seeks Volunteers To Build Set For ‘Matilda, The Musical’ At Duane Smith Auditorium

The Los Alamos Light Opera (LALO) needs the community’s help! LALO is seeking volunteers to help build the “Matilda, the Musical” set.
Volunteers should report to Duane Smith Auditorium at any of the initial build days/times:
- 5-9 p.m. Friday, Jan 6;
- 11-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan 7; and
- 11-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan 8.
Set Lead is Brad Gregory. Director is Wendy Lanchier.
Especially needed are painters, artists and a couple of carpenters. Please arrive in work clothes and bring gloves if you have them. The workshop is COLD, so dress appropriately.

This past March Hollywood paid a visit to Los Alamos. Director Christopher Nolan and his cast of A-list movie stars shot scenes for their movie “Oppenheimer” at several locations around town.

SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) in partnership with Santa Fe County, Stagecoach Foundation, Inc., and Santa Fe Film Office announce applications are open for a free training program to become a film and television production assistant.
Qualified applicants will get up to 160 hours paid work experience.
The Professional Readiness for Technical Careers (PROTEC) program will run on weekends and begins Saturday, Feb. 11 and continues through Sunday, Feb. 26 at Santa Fe Community College. Applications are due Jan. 31. More information Read More
