Assured Home Services To Host Customer Appreciation Day Party At The Tub Saturday Aug. 23

Assured Home Services, a local home inspection company, is holding a Customer Appreciation Day Party, 3-6 p.m. Aug. 23 at Bathtub Row Brewing Cooperative (The Tub).

The Tub will be open for regular business during the party.

Since beginning in 2003 with a house on San Juan on Barranca Mesa, Assured Home Services Owner Jim Robinson has inspected almost 3,700 homes. Three lab directors and the Oppenheimer and Bethe houses are included in that list.

Friday Teen Movie Night Returns To SALA Aug. 15

Los Alamos JJAB and SALA Event Center are thrilled to announce the return of Teen Movie Night. The return of the free movies kicked off last Friday, with 26 teens celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic JAWS. This coming Friday, Aug. 15, will be extra freaky, with the showing of the new sequel Freakier Friday.

This popular event offers a safe, fun, and engaging space for local high school teens to gather, socialize, and enjoy time with their peers.

Mark your calendars! The Los Alamos County Horse Show will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at Brewer Arena, located on North Mesa. This annual event invites riders of all ages and skill levels to showcase their horsemanship in a variety of English and Western classes, with chances to win t-shirts, buckles, and ribbons!

Cinema Cindy Reviews: Sketch

“Sketch” is a new family movie about the potential for a kid’s imaginative drawings to help them exorcise their grief. Angel Studios, which produces many of today’s feel-good movies, put this one on the screen, realizing in 93 minutes, all the messy color of the story.

The film is written and directed by Seth Worley, his first feature film, and it has already had some award nominations. Worley based “Sketch” on his 2020 short film “Darker Colors”, which tells the same story. In this film, he blends live action and animation as young Amber’s sketches come to life. Read More
