SANTA FE – The New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO), led by Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard, continues its streak of historic revenue, earning the second highest amount of total revenue for a single year in the agency’s history, bringing in nearly $2.6 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2025, New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands Stephanie Garcia Richard announced today.

Borrego Campground Prescribed Fire Planned Oct. 15

The Santa Fe National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations in the Española Ranger District on Wednesday Oct. 15, 2025, pending all required approvals. The Borrego Campground prescribed fire is a 399-acre jackpot burn, meaning fire crews will burn concentrations (jackpots) of fuels only under specified environmental conditions. This method confines fire to a predetermined area and produces the fireline intensity and rate of spread needed to attain resource management objectives. State Proposes Rules On Toxic PFAS Consumer Products

SANTA FE— The New Mexico Environment Department today petitioned the state’s Environmental Improvement Board to adopt proposed rules to implement New Mexico’s PFAS Protection Act.

The proposed rules implement the full scope of the PFAS Protection Act, including phasing out and prohibition on the sale of consumer products containing intentionally added PFAS, establishing consumer-facing labels for products which contain intentionally added PFAS, and the reporting requirements for the manufacturers of such products. Los Alamos Police Close One Lane On Main Hill Due To Rockslide … Motorists Asked To Seek Alternate Route

UPDATE: Road is cleared and traffic is moving smoothly. The Los Alamos Police Department has closed one lane on the Main Hill  Road this morning for an undisclosed amount of time due to a rockslide. Officers are allowing commuters to use one lane and directing traffic around the rockslide located near Anderson Lookout. Commuters are encouraged to seek an alternate route and to expect delays.
