NMED Lifts Algae Bloom Advisories At Five NM Lakes

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department is lifting harmful algae bloom advisories that were issued in September and October for Eagle Nest, Maloya, Lower Charette, Snow, and Hopewell lakes in Colfax, Mora, Catron, and Rio Arriba counties following updated monitoring data showing improved conditions.

Los Alamos Public Schools On 2-Hour Delay Thursday

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) will be on a 2-hour delay on Thursday, Dec. 4 due to winter weather conditions. We already have a lot of ice accumulating on walkways and in parking lots.

There is more moisture expected through the night and temperatures will remain below freezing. This delay will give our crews time to make sure parking lots and sidewalks are clear and safe for staff and students.

Luminaria Walk 2025 At Stables Postponed To Dec. 27

From North Mesa Stable Owners:

Due to a contagious horse virus that has entered New Mexico from neighboring states, the Los Alamos Stable Owners Association has decided to postpone the annual stables’ Luminaria Walk open house to Saturday, Dec. 27.
