The New Mexico Legislative Council Service (NMLCS) issued the following information Friday regarding admittance to the New Mexico State Capitol for the 2022 Legislative Session, which begins Tuesday:

Screening for Firearms

Per Legislative Council Policy No. 26, beginning Dec. 6, 2021, all firearms, including concealed handguns, explosives or other deadly weapons are prohibited in the State Capitol with limited exceptions. All LAPS Sites Move To Temporary Remote Learning

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) has announced that after careful consideration and a review of positive tests, quarantine and isolation numbers, attendance data, and available staff, the decision has been made to pause in person instruction at all school sites until Jan. 24. 

“Through our contact tracing, we have seen indications of spread of COVID in our schools,” Interim Superintendent Jennifer Guy said in a news release.

Mountain Elementary Moving To Temporary Remote Learning

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools has announced that the number of positive COVID-19 cases among staff and students at Mountain Elementary School over the past 14 days is nearing the 5 percent threshold.

The decision has been made to transition to temporary remote learning beginning 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 and extending through Monday, Jan. 24.

All in person classes, meetings or activities must be held remotely or rescheduled during this window, this includes after school clubs and YMCA.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing In White Rock Begins Jan. 17

COUNTY News:

Officials with the Los Alamos County Emergency Manager’s office announced today that a second COVID-19 testing site for the Los Alamos community will be available starting Monday, Jan. 17.

Located in White Rock at Overlook Park, Pathology Consultants of New Mexico (PCNM) will offer drive-through PCR-NAAT testing between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tests will be administered on a first-come, first-serve basis (no appointments).

Atomic City Transit Suspends Route 5 Due To Staffing Issue

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Atomic City Transit (ACT) Route 5 will be suspended starting at 11:35 a.m. today, Jan. 14 through the remainder of the day due to a staffing shortage. 

Dial-A-Ride Service for the Barranca Mesa area will be provided on a space basis for the remainder of the day.   

ACT apologizes for the inconvenience this staffing shortage issue may cause.
