The number of COVID-19 related deaths in the United States has now surpassed 700,000, with 100,000 deaths since June 16. This semi-logarithmic scatter plot shows the number of COVID-19 related deaths since June 16 per 100,000 people versus the percentage of population that is fully vaccinated by state. New Mexico and the nationwide average are highlighted in red. The line, which represents an exponential fit to the data, indicates that the number of deaths decreases exponentially with the vaccination rate. Accordingly, a 1 percent increase in the vaccination rate leads to 6 percent decrease
