New Mexico COVID-19 Update Oct. 9-12: 2,433 New Cases, Totaling 261,370, 16 New Deaths, 231,884 Recovered

SANTA FE — State health officials announced 2,433 additional COVID-19 cases Saturday through today in New Mexico.

Los Alamos County reported 21 new cases Oct. 9-12, bringing the total to 743 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 16 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 515 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 33 new cases in Catron County
  • 71 new cases in

NMED & DOH Offer Free Domestic Water Well Tests In Taos

NMED News:

TAOS — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) are hosting a free domestic well water testing event Oct. 16 in Taos.

Surveys show the majority of New Mexico’s private well users haven’t had their water tested, even though most do not have water treatment systems installed.

To save consumers money – tests are valued at around $150 – and to educate the public about safe drinking water, NMED and DOH are hosting a free well water testing event Oct. 16 while adhering to COVID-Safe Practices to protect staff and all community members who participate. Read More

State Offers Free, On-Demand, Printed COVID-19 Materials

NMDOH News:

SANTA FE — Friday, the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) announced that free COVID-19 printed materials are available to New Mexico businesses, organizations, community members and schools.

Individuals can choose from three different kits, which include banners, posters, flyers and postcards.

To obtain a kit follow these steps:

  • Write “NMDOH Order” into the subject line of an email to abqne@minutemanpress.com 
  • In the body of the email, include a contact name, organization name, email, and phone number. 
  • Decide which materials you would like to be printed.

Chart 516: COVID-19 Update New Mexico Oct. 8

The lines in this chart show the seven-day average number of daily COVID-19 diagnoses per 100,000 people versus date,  nationwide, statewide and countywide. The table compares the average number of daily diagnoses per 100,000 people since the start of the pandemic (March 2020) with the corresponding figures for the past week. Los Alamos County had a record number of 54 cases this week, and for the first time, the daily number of diagnoses in the county exceeds both the national average and the state average.
