SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) announces it added approximately 100 additional deaths to its baseline of COVID-19 related deaths Monday, May 24, after completing an audit of public health records.

With the audit complete, the number of deaths reported for some New Mexico counties will rise or fall. The changes come after receiving and reconciling public health information delayed over the course of months.

New Mexico Health Department Announces More Flexible Storage, Shipping Options For Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) today announced that the federal government has modified the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Emergency Use Authorization.
Now, thawed, undiluted vials of Pfizer vaccine may be stored for up to one month in refrigerators. Previously, thawed, undiluted vaccine vials could be stored in refrigerators for a maximum of five days.

New Mexico Higher Education Department Approves $400 Million UNM Hospital Project

The tower will include a seven-level, 570,000 square foot adult acute care hospital containing 96 intensive care beds, 18 operating rooms, multiple medical laboratories and suites, and a complete adult emergency department. 

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) has approved construction of a new hospital tower for the University of New Mexico Hospital.

The department has been working with UNM on the project since early 2019, which is the largest-scale capital outlay project undertaken by a public university in New Mexico in 10 years.
