It is heartening to see the progress that Los Alamos is making in its COVID-19 vaccination program. I also appreciate the increasing amount of information that county officials and other stakeholders have provided on the vaccine program over the last few months.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials today announced 306 additional COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reports no new case today so the total remains at 485 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

Today’s update includes 18 more deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

NMDOH On Vaccination Update, J&J Fetal Tissue Issue

NMDOH News:

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) announced this morning that at this stage, nearly 25 percent of New Mexicans (16+) have received one or more shots, with nearly 14 percent fully vaccinated.

PED: Spectators Now Allowed At School Sporting Events

SANTA FE – New Mexico Public Education Secretary Ryan Stewart announced today that effective immediately, spectators will be permitted at all school-related sports to the extent allowed by the current Public Health Order under the limits applicable to large entertainment venues. 

This means that schools may allow spectators as follows:

Turquoise Counties:

  • Up to 75% capacity of an outdoor spectator area
  • Up to 33% capacity of an indoor spectator area

Green Counties:

  • Up to 50% capacity of an outdoor spectator area

Los Alamos County Library System will re-open with a combination of curbside and walk-in service starting Monday, March 8 at Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library.

  • Walk-in service hours are 2-6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
  • Curbside service hours are 2-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
