SANTA FE — The Public Education Department Oct. 21 announced 21 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Rapid response has been initiated, and all pertinent information has been verified with the schools and school districts.

The following new cases have been reported:

  • Three cases in Bernalillo County. All of the infected individuals are students who were last on campus Oct. 14 and Oct. 16. All staff members and the parents and guardians of all students in the affected school have been notified of the positive cases.

Effective Oct. 21, the state of New Mexico revised the requirements for travelers incoming from out of state. Travelers from six low-risk states and the District of Columbia are exempt from the mandatory self quarantine requirement. SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 827 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 40 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 8 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

  • 292 new cases in Bernalillo County

New Mexico Updates High Risk States From Which Visitors And Arriving Residents Must Quarantine For 14 Days

SANTA FE – The state of New Mexico, pursuant to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s executive order requiring quarantine for out-of-state visitors arriving from high-risk states, today amended the list of states from which visitors and arriving residents must quarantine.

Per the executive order intended to protect New Mexicans by minimizing the risk of spread from out-of-state travel, Washington has been added to the list of high-risk states as of today, Oct. 21.
