SANTA FE — The Public Education Department Oct. 21 announced 21 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Rapid response has been initiated, and all pertinent information has been verified with the schools and school districts.
The following new cases have been reported:
- Three cases in Bernalillo County. All of the infected individuals are students who were last on campus Oct. 14 and Oct. 16. All staff members and the parents and guardians of all students in the affected school have been notified of the positive cases.
- One case in Curry County. The infected individual is

Effective Oct. 21, the state of New Mexico revised the requirements for travelers incoming from out of state. Travelers from six low-risk states and the District of Columbia are exempt from the mandatory self quarantine requirement. For a state to be classified as a low risk, it must meet two criteria: (i) test positivity rate below 5% and (ii) seven-day average of daily diagnoses below 8 per 100,000 residents. Source:
