Environment Department: COVID-19 Watchlist Oct. 23

NMED News:

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has updated its daily COVID-19 Watchlist, which includes New Mexico places of employment that have had two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.

As of Friday there are 75 establishments on the Watchlist.

A rapid response is initiated when the state learns of a positive COVID-19 case in the workplace. NMED or the state agency initiating the rapid response will offer direction to organizations regarding testing, quarantining and isolating, disinfecting, and COVID-Safe Practices.

NMPED COVID-19 Update: 21 Staff Members And 9 Students Test Positive In New Mexico Public Schools In Last 24 Hours

SANTA FE — The Public Education Department today announced 30 new positive cases of COVID-19 – 21 staff members and nine students – in the last 24 hours.

Rapid response has been initiated, and all pertinent information has been verified with the schools and school districts.

The following new cases have been reported:

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 797 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County remains at 40 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 7 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:

  • 197 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 28 new cases in Chaves County

Los Alamos Police Hold DEA Drug Take Back Day Saturday

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 in the north parking lot (off Central Avenue) of the police station.

Due to COVID-19, additional precautions have been put in place to ensure the safety of everyone participating in the event.

LAPD asks the community to follow these guidelines:

  • Use the entry into the parking lot from Central Avenue;
  • Traffic cones will be in place to guide drivers and officers will assist drivers to drive by a drop off box;

Dr. Brenda Pereda opened her new practice, Los Alamos Women’s Health, last week offering a full scope of OB/GYN services at Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC).

She specializes in reproductive health and wellness using culturally-appropriate and trauma-informed care for women of all ages.
