Free Cha-Cha-Cha Dancing At BESC Starts Monday May 6

COMMUNITY News:

Everyone is welcome to free ballroom dancing 7-9 p.m. every Monday (except County holidays) at the Betty Ehart Senior Center Center at 1101 Bathtub Row.

It is a Los Alamos County Activity organized by Terry Goodwin and Selmo Jarmillo. Every month they focus on a particular ballroom dance, and in May the focus is Cha-Cha-Cha.

The United Church of Los Alamos (UCLA), will host the final of their free concert series this Sunday. The Santa Fe Symphony Musician’s chamber will be held at 4 p.m., in the sanctuary at 2525 Canyon Road.

Office Of Archaeological Studies: Step Back In Time May 15

The community is invited to join the Office of Archaeological Studies at noon  Wednesday, May 15 for a free talk from OAS Executive Director John Taylor-Montoya: Friends of Archaeology Brown Bag Talk, It’s a Hard Rock Life: Women and Children at Historic Mines in Southern New Mexico.

The Office of Archaeological Studies provides free lectures to the public as part of its education and outreach mission.

Pianists Collaborate In Concert At Cathedral Basilica May 4

Pianists Natasha Stojanovska and EunAe Lee are sharing the stage and the piano bench for their upcoming Four Hands Piano Recital Saturday at the Cathedral Basilica, 131 Cathedral Place in Santa Fe. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the church. The program will feature works by Bach, Schubert, Poulenc and Debussy.

Lee and Stojanovska met each other while pursuing their doctoral studies in piano at Northwestern University. Lee is a professor at the University of Mary and Stojanovska is a musician living in Santa Fe.

Candidates Sought For 2nd Annual Northern New Mexico Fair & Rodeo Royal Court

Ladies and gentlemen from all over Northern New Mexico, ages 6 and up, are invited to participate in the 2nd Annual Northern New Mexico Fair and Rodeo Court Competition at Los Alamos County.

This competition is a revamped program of the Los Alamos County Queens Court Competition, that will allow for a larger age bracket for participation, categories for males of all ages, and the removal of Los Alamos County resident requirement to compete.

Santa Fe Community Orchestra To Present Concert May 19

The Santa Fe Community Orchestra (SFCO) will present a free performance of three widely acclaimed works:

          • Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol;
          • Florence Price’s Adoration; and
          • Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Maurice Ravel.

2024 Fiber Fair At Bosque Redondo Memorial May 4

Visitors of all ages can connect to the history of Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner Historic Site during the Fiber Fair 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024.
