The village of Gisewa, nestled in the Jemez Mountains, has been the home of Jemez Historic Site for many years. Every year, the site invites visitors to enjoy farolitos lining the site’s walking paths, Native American music and Pueblo dancers, food vendors, and an arts and crafts fair.

The Los Alamos Historical Society (LAHS) featured Dr. Mark T. Banker as guest speaker in the Society’s November Lecture Series held Thursday evening at Fuller Lodge.

Banker’s “lively and informative presentation” delved into the interesting parallels between Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Los Alamos, offering a different perspective of these two atomic cities.

The history of how the U.S. Army used scorched earth policies to forcibly remove Diné (Navajo) and Ndé (Mescalero Apache) people from their traditional homelands to this lonely, inhospitable outpost along the Pecos River is pivotal to the history of the American West.
