Los Alamos County/Public Works has requested input to a POLCO survey on bicycles. 

As a long-time motor vehicle driver in Los Alamos County, you could never pay me enough to ride a bicycle in Los Alamos County.

The following are a variety of vehicular issues which affect bicycle safety:

  1. It is a poor driving decision to pull into an oncoming traffic lane in order to pass a bicycle.
  2. Many minivan drivers are typically distracted with cell phones or disciplining kids in the back seat.  The driver’s focus may not be on bicycle traffic.

United Church: ‘Monday Night At The Pit’ Begins June 5

This summer, The United Church of Los Alamos continues the 75-year tradition of offering a place where young Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) interns, graduate students and the like meet, eat and play volleyball at “Monday Night at the Pit”.

The evening commute heading east out of Los Alamos townsite via Main Hill (N.M. 502) has been extra congested lately.

Public Works has been investigating ways to help alleviate some of the congestion that starts east of the roundabout and backs up through Trinity Drive and Central Avenue generally between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Read More

Free Bike Repair Clinic For Kids Saturday June 3

Members of the Los Alamos Chinese Christian Fellowship are holding a community service free Bike Repair Clinic for Kids 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3 at First Baptist Church of Los Alamos, 2200 Diamond Dr.

Community members are invited to bring their child’s worn-out bikes to the parking lot of First Baptist Church of Los Alamos where the team will fix them up for free.

Public Meeting On Loma Linda Road Improvements June 1

Thursday, June 1, the Transportation Board and Public Works Department will hold a public meeting to discuss the reconstruction improvements on the Loma Linda Road Improvements Project.

The project consists of the following streets: Loma Linda Drive, La Tierra Road, and La Mirada Circle. These are local roadways in Los Alamos County and can be accessed via NM 502 (East Road/Trinity Avenue) to Diamond Drive to the intersection of North Mesa Road and Loma Linda Drive.
