Courage is the ability to do something even if it frightens you. It is different from fearlessness and it is a muscle that can be trained.

Brene Brown writes in “The Gifts of Imperfection”, “Courage is…a habit, a virtue: You get it by courageous acts. It’s like you learn to swim by swimming. You learn courage by couraging.”

New Mexico State Police Conducts Operation To Curb Illegal Street Racing In McKinley County

MCKINLEY COUNTY — New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Uniform Officers comprised of officers from Gallup and Grants conducted an illegal street racing operation April 1 in Gallup and surrounding areas.

The purpose of the operation was to curb the influx of street racing within the city limits of Gallup and surrounding areas and raise awareness of safety to motorists.

During the 4-hour operation, officers made two DWI arrests, two misdemeanor arrests and one felony arrest. Officers also issued 48 traffic citations for various violations.

NMDOT Launches 1st Of 3 Roadside Beautification Plans

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) has contracted with two private companies to clean up state roadsides.

The companies simultaneously began Monday tackling the highly visible, heavily traveled stretch of I-25 from La Bajada south of Santa Fe to Los Lunas, south of Albuquerque. A separate company will work in five-mile increments on the stretch of I-25 from the Texas border, north past the city of Las Cruces.

The private contacts are paid with the $10 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds approved by the state legislature for roadside beautification. Read More

Lane Closure South Of 38th Street Continues Tuesday

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets Division will continue to keep the southbound lane just south of 38th Street closed beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 19.

Department of Public Utilities Gas, Water and Sewer Division crews are continuing to repair a water main leak off Diamond Drive that will not affect customer service.

Repairs should be complete and traffic controls removed no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday. Read More
